About FastText

FastText is a customised information e-newsletter that is emailed to busy professionals and business managers, usually once or twice a week. It is based on the idea that busy professionals and business people need to keep completely up-to-date with breaking news and emerging trends in their field.

Most professionals and business managers don’t have time to read through several local and metropolitan newspapers. They often don’t have time to read international newspapers at all. This means that it is very easy to miss critical industry news, developments, trends and issues that affect their profession or business. This is where FastText comes in. Innovative associations such as the Australian Council for Educational Administration are using the services of FastText to keep their members fully informed (see ACEL FastNews).

Fast access to breaking news

With a customised FastText e-newsletter, you, your employees or association members can very quickly access the latest information that may be very important for your business or profession. And these days, this gives you a cutting edge.

Working with you, your company or association, we develop a carefully customised news access package that meets your information access needs. Together, we will determine exactly what sort of news summaries and reports you need, how many, and how often.

We then search hundreds of online newspapers and magazines, selectively handpicking relevant items for you and your members.

Brief and succinct local and/or international news summaries are written by our editorial staff. Active internet links from the FastText e-newsletter are added, so that readers have the option of quickly sourcing further information from an actual online newspaper report. The final product is then emailed as an e-newsletter to you, or members of your association or company, for fast on-screen reading.

Nothing lasts forever!

Online newspaper links are always current at the time the e-newsletter is emailed. However, FastText e-newsletters are particularly time sensitive and must be read quickly – the news access we provide is fast to get to you but we cannot guarantee that it remains ‘live’ on the internet indefinitely.  FastText is definitely not a library, although we can provide an archive service if you require it.

Noticeboard section

Space can be allocated on your FastText e-newsletter for a noticeboard that allows you or your business to publicise its forthcoming activities, conferences, membership opportunities, and so on. Links can be provided from the e-newsletter to your association or business website.

 Who receives a FastText e-newsletter?

FastText e-newsletters can be provided free to everyone who chooses to subscribe - or restricted to a select group of your choice. This decision is up to you and depends on the financial support arrangements you have made. FastText manages the email subscription list, handling all new reader requests and changes to readers’ contact details.

Who pays for a FastText e-newsletter?

 There are several possibilities here.

  • Your business or association can entirely pay for the service.
  • If an association, you could invite one or several advertisers and sponsors to partly or fully support the provision of a FastText e-newsletter to your members. In this case, the logos of the advertisers and sponsors can be linked to their own websites. Clients who select this option mostly allow open access to the e-newsletter, so that sponsors and advertisers maximise their ability to contact prospective customers.

What would you name your FastText e-newsletter?

Different companies and associations prefer to customise the name of their FastText e-newsletter, with a title that usually includes their own business or association name. For example, ‘ACEL FastNews’ is the name selected by the Australian Council for Educational Leaders. FastText is willing to assist with this naming process, if required.  Of course, your own business or association logo will be featured prominently on the masthead of every e-newsletter.
